Fairmount Timeline

1878

Old Grout School built. 35 students, 1 teacher, $20 per month,
lived with students

1896

Textbooks purchased for first time from district

1905

4 room Fairmount School built

1910

Mother’s Circle created, later to become Mother’s Club, then PTA

1928

PTA very active, students great square dancers, newspaper published,
students won track meet

1934

Fire burned inside of building because of electrical wiring,
classes held at Grange

1944

Enrollment hits 100 students, Bertha Campbell principal

1961

Current building opens

1962

Ilene Deane becomes principal

1977

Old School torn down

1978

Kirk Kuykendall becomes principal

1988

Vivian Elliott becomes principal

1990

Pat Joyce becomes principal

1995

Renovation on west side of building
Greg Bushey becomes principal

2000

Renovation on north side of building

2002

Kent Schnurbush becomes principal
Morris Thompson becomes principal

2005

Renovation on front of building
100 year celebration

Brady Stroup becomes principal
